Teaching numbers beyond 10,time and money skills to children with Down syndrome and other learning difficulties using the Numicon approach

Time: 9.30am to 3.00pm – Refreshments included but please bring your own lunch. Full Day: £80 per professional (£20 for additional people from same school) /£20 per family member
Venue: The Pamela Sunter Centre, 2 Whitley Street, Bingley.
There is a car park to the rear of the building but if this is full, there is parking available on nearby streets but please check the parking restrictions. We are a short walk from Bingley train station.
Morning: The morning will cover counting beyond 10, introducing two digit numbers, addition and subtraction, counting in 10s, introducing place value and look at realistic targets for children with Down syndrome in this area.
Time: We will go through a structured programme of activities and resources to help teach the passage of time and how, step by step, to teach a child how to tell the time.
Money: We will detail a programme of 120 finely graded activities to help teach a person with Down syndrome or other learning disability to understand and use money. Starting with learning the names for coins and playing simple shopping games, moving on to learning the value of coins and progressing to working with pounds and pence. This programme is suitable to use with a child from approximately 5 years of age.
A memory stick of resources for each programme is available to purchase as a bundle for £20.00.
