Introduction to Down syndrome

An introduction to Down syndrome with Dr Wendy Uttley

This session introduces Down syndrome to people who have little experience of working with children and young people who have Down syndrome. It covers society’s view of Down syndrome, health implications, inclusion, the specific learning profile of people with Down syndrome and strengths and weaknesses in the classroom; outlining ways to ensure your teaching meets their learning needs.

Promoting positive behaviour and managing behaviours are discussed. Vital training for all involved in the education, inclusion and development of a person with Down syndrome.
