Working to learn the numbers that add together to make 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,8, 9, 10 and use them in problems. Start by watching the video about adding up and taking away. It is about 13 minutes long and covers this tab and the topics in tab 3.

• Read the notes on teaching the number bonds up to 10

• The worksheets cover all of the number bonds to 10, from 1+1 up to pairs that make 10 (1+9, 2+8, 3+7, 4+6, 5+5). Choose one at a time to tackle. It may take the child a long time to move through these. Use hands on apparatus and Numicon. Once you have done the sheets up to bonds that make 4, visit the next point and try a consolidation sheet. Then  move onto pairs that make 5.

• Worksheets to consolidate bonds to 10. These include both addition and subtraction.

• Try a little books of problems to apply a learnt number bond. The first one just works with 1+1, 1+2, 3-1, 2-1, 1-1. So the child will need to have mastered pairs that make 2 and 3 beforehand. The books go right up to 10.
